Reminder-Art Contest


Art Contest EntriesThere is still time to enter the Year of Mercy Art Contest.  Here are some of the beautiful entries we have received so far.

As a reminder:

The theme is Works of Mercy: Corporal and Spiritual.

Art:                               Any medium; including video or multi-media (maximum length 5 minutes)

Pre-K3 through K

Grades 1-3

Grades 4-6

Writing:                                              Maximum wording

Pre-K3 through K            ½ page hand written or 50 words

Grades 1-3                          200 words – 12pt Times New Roman font, double spaced, 1” margins

Grades 4-6                          500 words – 12pt Times New Roman font, double spaced, 1” margins

Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Creativity
  • Catholic content and engagement with the theme: Works of Mercy

There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner in each age/grade grouping for art and writing entries

(1 winner for both languages) = 18 total winners.

Prizes to be awarded are:

3rd place          Letter from Cardinal DiNardo and a $25.00 gift card

2nd place          Letter from Cardinal DiNardo and a $50.00 gift card

1st place          Photo with Cardinal DiNardo (to be in the TX Catholic Herald) and a Kindle Fire HD

Papa Abrirá “Puerta de la Caridad”

La “Puerta Santa de la Caridad” se abrirá el viernes 18 de diciembre por la tarde en un albergue para pobres de Roma (Italia). Lo hará el Papa Francisco en el centro de Cáritas Luigi Di Liegro, situado en los alrededores de la principal estación de trenes y autobuses de Roma, Termini.

Lord Jesus, Come!

That acclamation of praise and yearning, of faith and hope, is proclaimed frequently in the season of Advent. It is a time of waiting anew for the mercy of the Lord, a mercy that will be marked in a distinctive way this coming liturgical year by the celebration of a special Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Beginning on Dec. 8, the Jubilee Year of Mercy is a time set aside by our Holy Father Pope Francis to allow the great loving kindness of the Lord to visit us anew and transform us into disciples who have been seized by mercy and live to share it!  Continued at
