St Elizabeth of Hungary (1207 – 1231)

St Elizabeth was born a Princess, the daughter of the King of Hungary. She became interested in the Franciscan way of life and, supported by her husband, greatly enhanced her charitable deeds including feeding the poor and building a hospital for the sick which she visited daily. St Elizabeth used her dowry money, which was returned to her, to build another hospital and, with her companions, she continued to care for the less fortunate in life. To learn more go to:
