University of Notre Dame awards 2016 Laetare Medal to Vice President Joe Biden and former House Speaker John Boehner

Every year for the past 134 years, the University of Notre Dame announces on the fourth Sunday of Lent (Laetare Sunday) the winner of an annual award to honor the exemplary lifetime witness of an American Catholic. The award itself is given at the commencement exercises later that spring.

This year, the University announced that it is jointly bestowing the award on Vice President Joe Biden and former House Speaker John Boehner.
